Turn a multi-page PDF into separate files

Sometimes you receive or create a single PDF that actually contains many different documents: a scan with ten receipts, the payslips for a whole team, or the certificates for everyone in a course. To send or file each one separately, you need to split it.

SoloHazlo takes your PDF and creates a separate file for each page. Since the result is several files, we give them to you together in a ZIP so you can download them all at once. When it's done you'll see how many pages were separated and the size of the ZIP.

When splitting a PDF saves you work

Batches of payslips or invoices

Some systems generate payslips or invoices for several people in a single PDF. Splitting it gives you one page per person, so you can send each person only theirs.

Several documents scanned together

If you scanned receipts, vouchers or loose pages in one go, everything ends up in the same file. Splitting it lets you rename and store each document where it belongs.

Certificates, diplomas and report cards

Schools and course organizers often export all the certificates or report cards in one PDF. Separating them makes it easy to send each student or participant theirs by email or WhatsApp.

Files that are too big

When a long document exceeds a platform's limit, splitting it is the first step to uploading it in parts or keeping only what you need.

How to split a PDF with SoloHazlo

01

Select your PDF

Choose the document from your device. You'll see its name and size before continuing. The maximum is 100 MB.

02

Press "Split PDF"

You don't need to enter ranges or configure anything: each page automatically becomes its own PDF file.

03

Download the ZIP and open it

Download the ZIP with all the pages and unzip it to see the files. Below we explain how to do it on each device.

How to open the ZIP file on your device

A ZIP is a "compressed folder" that bundles several files into one. Every modern system can open it without installing anything:

On Windows: find the ZIP in your Downloads folder, right-click it and choose "Extract All". A regular folder with all the PDFs will be created.

On Mac: double-click the ZIP and it will unzip automatically into a folder next to it.

On Android: open Google's Files app (or your phone's file manager), go to Downloads, tap the ZIP and choose "Extract".

On iPhone: open the Files app, find the ZIP in Downloads and tap it once; iOS will create a folder with its contents.

Tips for working with the separated pages

Only need some of the pages? If you're only asked for three pages of a 40-page document, it's easier to use Extract pages and get a PDF with just those pages, without downloading all the others.

Documents longer than one page. If each document inside your PDF takes up two or more pages (for example, a 3-page contract), after splitting you can put the ones that belong together back together with Merge PDF.

Rename them right away. If you're sending each page to a different person, rename each file as soon as you unzip it (for example, with the person's name). It'll save you confusion when sending them.

Common problems and how to fix them

I can't open the ZIP on my phone

Make sure you open it from the file manager (Files on Android or iPhone) and not from the browser's downloads window. If the file shows 0 MB or won't open, download it again.

I get an error when splitting

The PDF may be password-protected or damaged. Open it on your computer to check. If the server is busy, wait a few minutes and try again.

My document has only one page

In that case there's nothing to split: the result would be the same file. This tool is useful for PDFs with two or more pages.

What happens to your documents

To split your PDF, the file is sent to our server, separated into pages, and the ZIP is made available for you to download through a private link. Files are deleted from the server automatically shortly after processing. We don't look at the content of your documents or share them with third parties.

Your original PDF, the one on your device, isn't changed: SoloHazlo creates new files from it.

Frequently asked questions about splitting PDFs

Can I choose where to split the document?

This tool separates every page, one per file. If you only need certain pages, use Extract pages.

Why do I get a ZIP instead of the PDFs directly?

Because a 20-page document would mean 20 separate downloads. The ZIP bundles them into a single download that's faster and easier to handle.

Is quality lost when splitting?

No. Each page is copied exactly as it is in the original document; text and images aren't recompressed.

What's the maximum size?

You can split a PDF of up to 100 MB. If yours is larger, try shrinking it first with Compress PDF.

Does it cost anything, or do I need to sign up?

No. Split PDF is free and doesn't require an account. The site is supported by ads.
