Exact or fast cut
Fast
Copies the video without recompressing it: it takes seconds, keeps the original quality and format, and has no length limit. The start may come a few seconds early.
Why isn't the fast cut exact?
Videos store a full image every few seconds (a keyframe) and only the changes in between. Without recompressing, the cut can only start on a keyframe.

How to trim a video step by step
Upload your video
A player with your video will appear.
Mark the start and end
Play, pause wherever you like and use "Mark current position". You can also type the time, for example 1:05.
Check the clip
"Watch the clip" plays it from the marked start to the marked end.
Trim and download
The file will have the original's name plus "-recorte".
Common problems
The video doesn't show in the player
Some browsers can't play certain formats (for example AVI, WMV or MKV). Type the times by hand: the trim works the same.
The fast clip starts early
That's normal in fast mode. If you need it to start right on the marked second, use Exact mode.
My clip is longer than 10 minutes
Use fast mode, which has no length limit.
What happens to your videos
The preview plays on your own device. When you trim, the video is sent to our server, deleted as soon as the process ends, and the clip is available through a private link that's deleted automatically shortly after.
Frequently asked questions about trimming video
Is quality lost?
In fast mode, nothing. In exact mode a very high quality is used where the difference isn't visible to the naked eye.
Is the sound kept?
Yes, the clip includes the video's audio.
Can I get just the clip's audio?
Trim the video and then use Video to MP3.
Does it cost anything?
No. It's free with no sign-up. The site is supported by ads.
