Keep only the part that matters

A ringtone with the chorus of your favorite song, the part of a class you need to review, the section of an interview you're going to quote, or a voice note without the silence at the start. Trim audio lets you listen to the file in your browser, mark the start and end, and download just that clip.

With a direct cut, for MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, OGG and OPUS the clip is copied straight from the original without recompressing it: it sounds exactly the same.

Ideas for using it

Ringtones and alarms

Cut 20 to 30 seconds of a song. For iPhone, then convert it to M4A with Convert audio.

Classes and lectures

Pull out the topic you care about from a long recording.

Podcasts and interviews

Remove the intro or outro, or make teasers for social media.

Voice notes

Remove silences and hesitations before forwarding them.

How to trim audio step by step

01

Upload your file

A player with your audio will appear.

02

Mark the start

Play, pause where you want it to start and press "Mark current position" under Start. You can also type the time, for example 1:05.

03

Mark the end and listen

Do the same for End and use "Play the clip" to check the cut.

04

Trim and download

The file will have the original's name plus "-recorte".

Direct or soft cut

Direct cut keeps the original's exact quality. It's best for voice recordings or when the cut falls on a silence.

Soft adds a brief fade at the start and end so the music doesn't start or stop abruptly. To apply it, the clip is saved again at high quality in the same format.

Common problems

The cut landed a few hundredths of a second early or late

In a direct cut of MP3 and M4A, the audio is cut at the nearest block, which lasts a few hundredths of a second. If you need total precision, use Soft mode.

The player doesn't appear

Some browsers can't play certain formats (for example WMA or AMR). Type the times by hand; the trim works the same.

What happens to your files

The preview plays on your own device. When you trim, the audio is sent to our server, deleted as soon as the process ends, and the clip is available through a private link that's deleted automatically shortly after.
